Cards, letters, poems, pictures, posters, etc., that you wish to have forwarded to the families of the fallen Hokies may be mailed to:

Are there any guidelines for leaving items at the April 16 Memorial?
Items left at the Memorial one week prior to and one week after April 16, 2008, will be collected (April 9-23). Items left at specific stones will be distributed to the families of the deceased (except for perishables such as cut flowers). Items not left at the actual memorial will not be retrieved and archived.
The official date for which no more items will be accepted to Prevail Archive and the Office of Recovery and Support for distribution to families will be May 15, 2008. Items left or mailed after that date will not be archived.
Do I need to bring my own candle for the vigil on April 16?
No. Some 40,000 candles are available for distribution to Candlelight Vigil participants.
Where can I park for events on campus?
As a result of the planned events and the large number of anticipated attendees, on-campus traffic and parking will be affected. Those planning to attend the scheduled events are strongly encouraged to carpool or use other means of alternative transportation.
Friday, April 15
The Drillfield will be closed beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15. No parking will be permitted. At 10 p.m., parking will be prohibited in the following areas:
- Washington Street
- Beamer Way
- Golf Course Lot along Duck Pond Road
- Kent Street
All vehicles must be removed from these areas including the Drillfield by 10 p.m. Friday, April 15, or be subject to towing. These areas will be restricted until the end of the 3.2 Run in Remembrance at about 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16.
Saturday, April 16
There will be no through traffic on Alumni Mall from 8 a.m. Saturday, April 16, until the end of the 3.2 Mile Run in Remembrance. Vehicles parked in the following lots will not be allowed to exit until the end of the run:
- Wright House Lot
- Hahn Lot
- Duck Pond Overflow Lot
- Price Hall Lot
- Engel Lot
- Coliseum Lot
- Coliseum East (Basketball Practice) Lot
- Basketball Practice Ext. Lot
- Northern part of Stadium Lot
- Owens Lot
- Bookstore Lot
- Grove Lane
- Davidson Lot
- Smithfield Road Lot
General Parking
Public parking for all events will be in the large commuter lots between Prices Fork Road and Perry Street. The Rec Sports field and Health and Safety lots (off Research Center Drive), will be available for media vehicles. No visitor parking permits will be required on April 16.
